In the village of Conachi, the summer holidays are full of adventures for Ilinca and Ionică, two children who spend their days at their grandparents', lifelong summer neighbours. Although they are very different, the two become partners in mischief and discovery. Ilinca is brave, energetic and always ready for a new adventure, while Ionică is shy, fearful and rather cautious. Yet it is precisely these differences that turn them into an irreplaceable team.

One day, Ilinca climbs a tree and has an unexpected encounter with a friendly and very forgetful squirrel. Its invitation to lunch opens the gate to a secret and fascinating world, hidden from human eyes. Guided by curiosity and imagination, Ilinca and Ionică set off together on an adventure that leads them into the wonderful land of Veverițeni, a place full of unusual characters, funny happenings and surprises at every step.

As they explore this enchanted world, Ionică learns to overcome his fears, to trust himself more and to face the unknown with greater courage. Alongside Ilinca, he discovers that the most beautiful adventures begin when you have a friend who believes in you.

The illustrations, created from original paintings, complete the charm of the story and turn every page into a colourful journey full of imagination.
